The Canoe Search products team is responsible for driving the business performance of all of Canoe’s pay per click products, including Search, Shopping and Auctions.
In 2006 Canoe launched Canoe Klix, the premiere Canadian-based pay per click advertising vehicle and, continuing it’s pursuit to be Canada’s top content destination site, will be launching a shopping section in the upcoming months.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Canoe is looking for a motivated individual to lead this and other shopping related products.
A member of the search products team, the Product Manager will be responsible for increasing the profitability of existing products and developing new products related to his/her sector of activity. He/she must:

  • Build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on his/her industry experience and contact with customers and prospects.
  • Possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. 
  • Enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. 
  • Be able to communicate with all areas of the company. Working with an engineering counterpart to define product release requirements.
  • Work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.
  • Serve as the internal and external contact for the product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

Key responsibilities: 

  •  Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
  • Specifying market requirements by conducting market research 
  • Recommending strategic orientation of the product 
  • Establishing the business model while considering costs/benefits 
  • Collaborating with the functional analyst in order to support the development of interfaces. 
  • Driving a solution set across multiple teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning. 
  •  Developing and implementing a go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute. 
  •  Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product. 
  •  Other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Degree in business management, marketing or equivalent. 
  • Knowledgeable in analytics, marketing and technology. 
  • 3+ years of marketing, product management experience or E-commerce 
  • Motivated, autonomous, self-teaching with a strong company spirit. 
  • Merchandising experiences a strong plus. 
  • French and English (both written and spoken) a must.
